Christian Education at Trinity

Sunday School

Classes are between services at 9:15 a.m. when school is in session.

3rd Grade Bible Presentation

In Holy Baptism, the promise is made, “As this child grows in years, you should place in his/her hands the Holy Scriptures and provide for his/her instruction in the Christian Faith…” Trinity works with parents to fulfill this promise by providing a study about the purpose and meaning of the Bible, as well as giving a Bible to each third grade child. This normally happens in the fall each year.

Early Communion

Trinity invites all of the students at the 5th grade level to begin receiving Holy Communion. In preparation for beginning to receive Holy Communion, the parents and students meet with the pastor and are given a course of study that will be worked on by the parents and students, and then they will meet with the pastor to discuss if the parents feel their child is ready to begin receiving Holy Communion. First communion is normally received during Holy Week at the Maundy Thursday service.

Confirmation

Aside from Christian instruction in the home, Trinity assists parents and children by offering numerous Christian educational opportunities. Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, 3rd Grade Bible Presentation, Early Communion Instruction, and confirmation. This is a course of study about the Christian Faith that includes a concentrated study of the Bible, Luther’s Small Catechism, and application of the Faith to daily living. These classes normally take place during the child’s 7th, 8th and 9th grade years.
