Since 1842, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) has been involved in Global Mission outreach in now over 72 different countries. During this time over 5,500 missionaries have served across the globe. Missionaries are supported by congregations of the ELCA, as well as other projects across the globe. (link to ELCA, Global Mission Page) Also, the ELCA is a member of the Lutheran World Federation (link to LWF) and Lutheran World Relief (link to LWR), that are world wide organizations of Lutheran Churches involved in Christian outreach and humanitarian needs ministries.
